I felt like doing something a little different today as we remember how the next two production days went. Since humor can help smooth things out a bit, I thought I’d shoot out some possible thought bubbles for the cast and crew in these pix. Have fun with it!

Day Nine

We are still at the Ward house, with some serious talking scenes and some fun with water pistols.

Robin: How come nobody’s talking to me? … I mean, I can be a social butterfly, too. Guess toothpaste and deodorant woulda been polite this morning, huh? Ha, what? Me polite? Ha …
John: What’s with all the white folks here?
Everyone else: Work, coffee, work, wait, coffee, wait, eat, coffee, eat, work, wait, eat, coffee …

Austin: Damn, Charlie, he said ‘cut, man.’ The scene is over, dude!
Charlie: I’m gonna soak him. Maybe they’ll pay me more, the more fun I have.
Everyone Else: I wish I had a water pistol. I’d love to shoot the director.

Everyone: Damn, okay who did it? Whew!
Michael: I bet it was the guy taking the pic.
Jerry: Don’t look at me, I’m just laughing ‘cause you’re funny looking.
Paul: I better shut up. Everyone always blames me for everything.
Chris: If I could just back out real slow and easy, no one will trace it back to me.

Layton: I wanna shoot something right now, but that chain hanging down is really uninteresting. Where’s the dang director?
Jacob: Jees, I wonder if that bug flying around is in the shot. Yeah, we need a different lens. Where’s the dang DP?

Almost Everybody: Crap, we have lights, camera, sound, (and unwanted background sounds) but no actors! Where the hell is talent?
CJ: Damn, that’s the problem with these productions, I can’t seem to keep my Facebook status updated.

Day Ten

We start late today, or actually tonight, as all of our shots are night shots and all are interiors. Some serious emotions start to get stirred up now.

Charlie: Well, if you had to wear these dorky pajamas, you’d forget your lines too.
Michael: Well dude, I don’t need lines, because I am a real person. You’re just playing like you’re somebody. And besides, those are cool looking pajamas. I had a pair like that, so don’t look at me like that.

Porch People: God, that’s boring in there. Let’s grab some more coffee and rap about something more important than filmmaking. Anyone seen any good films lately?
Lawn People: Yeah, this is the place to hide and keep my Facebook status updated (or Instagram or to tweet, or whatever). Keep me off that boring set and let me socialize online, okay?

Paul: Just ignore me, I am trying to get in some meditation time, please.
Charli: Oh Blake, you shouldn’t be watching porn on set … oh my, she can do that?
Blake: Ssshh, this is the best part.
Tara: Oh, my, my … remain calm … she can really, do that?

Paul: I’m not really here. Don’t pay any attention to me until you shoot this scene, and then I’ll let you know if it’s okay. Okay?
Layton: I just wanna shoot some stuff. Quit talking so much.
Jerry: Damn it, who wrote this scene? And who thinks this works? Anyone, please?
Robin: Uh, okay, uh, yeah, maybe so, but just tell me how long this scene is gonna take to shoot, will ya’, anyone?
Don: Crap, what were the lines? Maybe if I look really intense, someone will throw me a life raft.
Ryan: Man, I’m just grabbing a brewski. You all are taking way too much time figuring out this dang simple scene.

And there you go for those two wonderful days. And stay tuned for the next two days, when the Ward brothers really do get into it. Drama, drama, drama …

Jerry Alden Deal

Writer - Director - Producer

Over the past thirty-five years Jerry has been hired numerous times to develop and write screenplays for other production companies. During that same period several of his spec scripts were also optioned. In 2007 ‘Dreams Awake,’ shot in the Mt. Shasta area, was Jerry’s feature directorial debut. He currently has several other projects in various stages of development. One of which, ‘The Inner Sonic Key,’ a documentary, is in the post-production queue, while another, ‘One Hand Clapping,’ wrapped production in Austin, TX in April of last year (2018) and is currently in post-production. Two other projects are also on the horizon; ‘Patterns of Creation,’ an animated sci-fi adventure going through an extensive script rewrite, and ‘The God Dilemma’, an unorthodox courtroom drama, whose story is being fleshed out.
